Abandoned Vehicles
Inquiries regarding abandoned vehicles in public areas should be directed to the Customer Service Centre.

Advertising Signs/sign licensing
Advertising signs and devices must be licensed. No advertising signs are to be erected on roads or land under the control of Council without Council permission. Application forms are available online, or see the advertising signs/sign licensing page for full information.

After hours emergencies
For after hours emergencies, such as livestock on the road, vandalism of public property, burst water mains, blocked sewers or a dangerous dog attack, phone the Customer Service Centre. See all emergency contact information for the Sunshine Coast region.

Animal control

Art Gallery

Caloundra Cultural Centre - now the Events Centre

Caloundra Indoor Stadium
Located in North Street, Golden Beach, the Caloundra Indoor Stadium is a four-court, fully air-conditioned, international standard stadium equipped with multi-functional sporting facilities and features. Caravan Parks
Council operates one caravan/camping facility - the Dicky Beach Family Holiday Park located in Beerburrum Street, Dicky Beach. The facility offers both powered and non-powered sites, small cabins as well as two camp kitchens, tennis court, swimming pool, playground and walking paths. Change of Address
Property owners need to keep Council informed of their address. Ratepayers can change their address by contacting the Customer Service Centre.

Child Care Services
Council provides two childcare centres – Caloundra Child Care Centre and North Caloundra Child Care Centre. Full-time care is available at both and caters for children from birth to school age. Pre-school programs run daily.

Citizenship
Council acts as an agent for the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs in granting citizenship. Each year, Council conducts a number of citizenship ceremonies, with the largest held on Australia Day.

Initial inquiries regarding Australian citizenship applications and approvals should be directed to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. Applications forms can be obtained from Australia Post branches.

Community Information Service (CIS)
CIS provides information on community groups and organisations within the Sunshine Coast region. Listings include groups from sports, cultural, youth, hall hire, venues and many more. Find out more about the Community Information Service (CIS).

Country and Coastal Certifiers
Country and Coastal Services, a business unit of Council, provides statutory building and plumbing services, project applications and inspections, both inside and outside the Caloundra City area.

Call Country and Coastal Certifiers on (07) 5420 8611or visit the Country and Coastal Services website.

Permits are required before you can begin any building work on your property including renovations, alterations, additions, retaining walls, carports and swimming pools. For related information, see the building and development FAQs.

For all buildings other than single dwelling homes, town planning requirements are applicable and inquiries should be directed to the Customer Service Centre.

Trained customer service officers handle both face-to-face and telephone inquiries.

Development applications
Includes all development inquiries such as applications for material change of use, lot reconfiguration, operational works, building format plans and community title schemes.

To ensure development applications are correctly prepared and submitted, applicants should consult Council’s Growth Management Unit staff prior to lodgement. For complex applications, seek an appointment with Growth Management’s Pre-Lodgement Service. A fee applies.

You can also use Council's Planning and Development (PD) Online service to track development applications.

Dogs
All dogs kept within Caloundra City must be registered at three months of age. Dogs must be registered annually and fees apply to the various categories - dogs not desexed, desexed and dangerous. See more about keeping a dog.

Dogs must be registered within 28 days of moving to the City. All others must be registered within 14 days of the owner coming into possession of the animal. See more information on dog registration.

Off Leash Areas:
There are a number of ‘off-leash’ areas in Caloundra where owners can enjoy walking their dog off a lead. These areas are clearly marked by signage. To assist owners, we have included a list of ‘Designated Animal Areas’ within the City.

Driveways
Construction and maintenance of driveways, property access and pipe crossings are the responsibility of owners. A permit is required prior to commencement of work. For details contact the Customer Service Centre.

Economic development

Erosion and sediment control (stormwater pollution)
It an offence to cause stormwater pollution in Caloundra City. Stormwater pollution occurs when sediment and other contaminates are washed away from construction sites and renovations. More stormwater pollution information.

Environmental health
Food premises, skin penetration establishments, fuel storages, accommodation and certain commercial and industrial industries are licensed by Council as required by the State Government. Auditing of these premises protects the environment, provides safety for the community and maintains high levels of community health.

Feral animals
The incidence of wild dogs hunting and killing domestic animals in the hinterland is increasing. Council’s Regulatory Services is working to control the situation.

The responsibility for controlling a declared animal (which also includes foxes and feral pigs and cats) rests with the landholder.

Filming
A Special Event application must be submitted to Council for authorisation. See the special temporary event application or contact the Customer Service Centre.

Footpaths
For new driveways and crossovers, construction or damage to existing footpaths and inquiries in relation to new developments contact the Customer Service Centre.

Graffiti
Contact the Customer Service Centre for incidents of graffiti or vandalism to public property.

Greywater
Greywater is waste water from the bath, shower, hand basin and laundry which can be diverted for reuse on lawns and gardens. Find out about greywater reuse in sewered areas of the Caloundra area.

Hire of venues
Caloundra City venues for hire include community halls, sporting complexes and major function centres. For more information on each venue visit Caloundra City venues for hire.

Holding Tanks
Any service difficulties with service tanks, problems or requests for extra pump-outs should be directed to the Customer Service Centre.

Household sewerage treatment plants
Household sewerage treatment plants, or Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS), are approved by the Department of Infrastructure and Planning. A list of approved systems are available at the Department of Infrastructure and Planning website. Council approval is required prior to installation and operation.

Lifeguard service
Council provides a Professional Lifeguard Service who patrol every day of the year and work closely with volunteer life savers and emergency services. For more information visit the Lifeguards website.

Local Laws Officers
Council employs a team of local laws officers to enforce legislation and provide emergency 'call out' services. More information on local laws.

An emergency is a matter of a serious nature and requires urgent attention such as livestock on the road, vandalism of public property or a dangerous dog attack. For emergency call outs contact the Customer Service Centre.

Local Laws
Council has Local Laws relating to many issues. Residents can view individual Local Laws at Council's Customer Service Centre, Caloundra City Libraries or access the local laws online.

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is situated on Mountain View Road, Maleny, at the southern end of the Blackall Range.

O

On-site sewerage facilities (OSSF)
OSSF include all types of wastewater treatment and land application systems such as septic tanks, aerated wastewater treatment systems, sand filters, composting toilets etc. These systems are required in areas not served by Council’s sewerage infrastructure. More OSSF information.

Outdoor education and recreation
Camp Koongamoon is located on the edge of the picturesque Ewen Maddock Dam. This popular facility is owned by Council and offers a variety of reasonably priced accommodation (cabins, tents and campsites) to suit your group.

Activities include high and low ropes courses, climbing wall, canoeing, bushwalking, camp fire and barbecues.

Overgrown land
Council encourages the owners of vacant land to clear long grass, weeds and undergrowth on a regular basis. A list of local clearing contractors is available to assist landowners.

Council will serve notices on landowners to clear their properties if the land is overgrown. Failure to comply will result in Council clearing the land - charges apply in this instance.

Parking
Caloundra City has multi-bay parking meters in the Central Business District (CBD). To operate, follow the instructions on the front. No receipt is issued.

Disability permits from all Australian states are recognised in Caloundra and ‘free parking’ is offered to permit holders. Time limits apply.

Council offers free multi-storey parking stations just off Bulcock Street and free street parking outside the CBD. Motorists are advised that time limits apply to the multi-storey parking stations.

Pre-paid parking permits:
Council offers a pre-paid parking system – fees apply for both private and commercial permits. Time limits also apply.

Parks and reserves
Caloundra City has more than 400 parks and reserves, covering an area of about 2000 hectares.

Council is continuing to introduce new parks and reserves, and upgrade and redevelop existing parks to provide modern and stylish facilities for residents and visitors.

Special events in parks
Members of the public are welcome to use Council parks for their own special occasions including charity events, community events and private functions, however, charges may apply. Bookings are essential. See the special temporary event application or contact the Customer Service Centre.

Pets

Planning and Development (PD) Online
Planning and Development (PD) Online provides services and information about land use planning and development within Caloundra City. Visit PD Online.

Plumbing
Country and Coastal Services handles wastewater drainage design and inspection of dwellings and other premises, including private stormwater disposal systems.

For stormwater drainage problems relating to private dwellings phone (07) 5420 8611. For problems other than private dwellings, please contact the Customer Service Centre.

Pool fencing
Country and Coastal Services handles compliance with the State Government Swimming Pool Fencing Legislation which affects all outdoor swimming and spa pools associated with residential dwellings.

It is the property owner's responsibility to ensure that pool fencing complies with the legislation. However, Council will, on written request and payment of a fee, inspect pool fencing and advise whether it complies.

Q

Quad Park
Located on the Nicklin Way, Bokarina, Quad Park features eight flood-lit, multi-purpose, outdoor playing fields, a clubhouse, change rooms, referee facilities and meeting rooms. Development and management of this facility is controlled by the Quad Park Corporation Pty Ltd, a company established by Council.

Recycling
The recycling service is available to all residents. Commencement of a general waste service for a domestic property includes an 80-litre, 140-litre or 240-litre general waste bin and a 240-litre yellow lid recycling bin. Products allowed in the bins are printed on the underside of the lid.

Recycle markets:
Council’s Recycle markets are open to the public and are located at Pierce Avenue, Little Mountain, Roberts Road, Beerwah and Corner of Cooke Road and Witta Road, Witta. Hours of operation are:

Pierce Avenue - Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm
Beerwah - Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm
Witta - Saturday from 9am to 4pm

Trade waste
Approval is required to discharge trade waste into the City's sewerage system. Contact the Customer Service Centre for all inquiries.

Tree protection (vegetation protection)
Local tree protection laws apply across the City. Residents wishing to remove or heavily prune trees on private property should first check whether Council approval is needed.

Street trees in Caloundra City are community property controlled by Council and shouldn’t be interfered with. Heavy penalties apply. More about vegetation protection.

Council has an ongoing program for the inspection and maintenance of the City's waterways and canals.

Resource Recovery Centres

  • Beerwah - Roberts Road – Seven days, 8:00am to 5.00pm. Domestic waste only.

Weeds
Pest plants targeted for control under State legislation are species that have, or could have, serious economic, environmental or social impacts. Declaration under the Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management) Act 2002 imposes a legal responsibility for control by all landowners on land under their management

Youth Services
Youthlinx works with young people aged 11 to 16 to develop opportunities for involvement in a range of activities and projects such as music events, skateboard competitions and theatre projects. YAS operates out of the Arthur Street Hall in Caloundra.
