Blocked sewers
Where a blockage occurs in drains or the sewer, residents should contact a licensed plumber in the first instance. This will establish whether the blockage is in the house drain or in the sewer.

A blockage in the house drain is the property owner's responsibility to rectify (including plumbing costs). If the blockage is in the sewer system, Council will arrange repairs/clearing at no expense to the resident.

Broken or leaking water service

If a break or leak occurs on the property side of the water meter box, repairs are the property owner’s responsibility and you should contact a certified plumber immediately.

Caloundra City garden.Greywater reuse
Greywater is waste water from the bath, shower, hand basin and laundry which can be diverted for reuse on lawns and gardens.

Kitchen greywater is not suitable for reuse, as grease and oil can clog irrigation systems and build up on soil surfaces.

Water charges

Currently, properties connected to a reticulated water supply are levied water consumption charges on a 'user pays' basis. This means you only pay for water you use.

Council encourages residents to periodically check their water meter reading and note their consumption.

Checking your meter will help to identify any problems or faults with your meter, such as leaks or water pipe failure.

Leaks or breaks on the property side of the water meter are the responsibility of the property owner, and you should consult a certified plumber immediately.

For information on Council's 'user pays' water charges or your water consumption, contact Council on (07) 5420 8200.
