Trees, Parks and Maintenance

Parks and Gardens Unit

Caloundra City Council’s Parks and Gardens Unit is responsible for the maintenance of more than 300 urban parks and several hundred gardens throughout the City.

The unit also maintains infrastructure within these parks, such as playground equipment, barbecues and toilet facilities. Staff also clean and maintain coastal foreshores, walkways to foreshores and cemeteries

Parks and Gardens officers maintain street trees throughout the City and are responsible for planting new trees along nature strips.

Vegetation protection

Council has local laws to protect the City's vegetation. This includes the Parks and Reserves Local Law and the Clearing of Vegetation Local Law. Find what you need to know about vegetation protection laws in Caloundra.

Free trees

Council’s nursery provides two free trees, shrubs and groundcovers to ratepayers each year on days as advised by divisional councillors.

Ratepayers unable to obtain their trees on the designated Free Tree Day can collect them from the Industrial Avenue Nursery in Caloundra on Wednesdays between 1.00pm and 2.30pm. You'll need to bring your current Annual Rates Notice. Water rates notices will not be accepted.

Pest queries

Residents with questions about pest problems requiring the use of chemicals are advised to contact their local nursery or the Department of Primary Industries.
