State of the Environment Report
Welcome to Caloundra City’s first State of the Environment Report (SoER #1).
State of the Environment reporting is about describing, analysing and communicating information about the environment. The SoER provides a snapshot of the current condition of the City’s natural environment and identifies our impacts.
Caloundra City Council produced its first State of the Environment report in 2001. The purpose is to raise community awareness and understanding, track changes and trends in the environment and identify emerging problems. It identifies areas of progression and areas where further response is required.
The report is developed around five key themes:
- Atmosphere
- Land and Landscape
- Waterways
- Biodiversity
- Waste of Resources
The State of the Environment Report is a significant first step in a longer term strategy of continually monitoring the City’s environment and regularly reporting important trends for the benefit of Council and the wider community.
